Got damit......my brakes started making a god awful noise on Friday....I knew I needed to take action A.S.A.P....well I couldn't do anything Saturday because my younger son has basketball most of the day on Saturday...Sunday no mechanics open!!! Yesterday I took the car to Midas two hours later...........$591 dollars...ooohhh HELL NAW!!! I will just pick it up when I get off....I had boss lady drop me off and pick it up....I screeched and grinded all the way home and called a mechanic near my house......had a co-worker pick me up on her way to work at 7:15 this morning......at 9:00 I get the dreaded call...........$545 what the fuck???? And they named a bunch of different shit.....The only things they mentioned that were alike were the front rotars and pads.......all that other shit....do I really freakin need it....why is the damn labor sooooo much....how bout I head on over to the autozone and buy it my god dam self!!!!
O.K. i'm done venting, ranting and raving.....thanks for letting me.....It's time like theese I really miss having a man......not just dick in my life....but a man........

Yeah, the labor is what gets you. The parts aren't really all the expensive, but you're paying for that labor.

Dee - thanks for stopping by my place. I completely understand about the mechanic. There have been times that I have left a mechanic crying because I felt so helpless.

I hate mechanics and it is even worse when you have brake problems. Since they are such a vital part of your car they try and rip you off any way they can. I don't know if you have a Brake Masters where you are, but if you do STAY AWAY. They are the WORST.

ms. pigsley...I tried to be a smart consumer and got a 2nd opinion from a mechanic near my house where I usually get oil changes....still spent $500...damit! Yhanks 4 coming to see me!
Hey Yasmin thanks for visiting me....they are all devils...A male friend told me that brakes are the biggest scam cause they know you freak out if you think you can't S.T.O.P!!!

I feel your pain, Dee. smh Despite having a warranty, you still have to pay for the labor, which I think they double up on purposely. I wanted my husband to take my car in JUST to see if they'd give HIM a different price.

It would be cheaper to just buy the parts from autozone and have a di... I mean have a man install 'em.

In the meanwhile, throw some peanut butter on them bad boys and you'll be good to go. Not the cheap stuff either, get some of that chunky nutty stuff!

glad I could help.

Ah for the love of.....now wait.... rotors are like $60.00a piece for American cars and maybe 100.00 a piece on a foreign car. Pads aren't but $30-$40 and I KNOW that it wasn't scrreaachhing that hard that it wore out the caliphers and they had to replace that. So with labor - even in Cali that should have been about $280 - 380 at the most! Also there are no belts on your brakes so unless your timing belt was just about to go (and they should have shown it to you first) they didn't have no business charging you that anyway! See this is why a sista just learned to replace them myself. (then I take myself to the nail shop so I can stay cute!)But you know what girlfriend? Next time, just take a dude.Even if he doesn't know anything, use him as a prop and maybe they will charge you less. SMH!!!
