rob peter to pay paul......

Are you all familiar with the saying "Rob Peter to pay Paul"? Well that's what I have been doing all my adult life....I remember my Grandma and Mom saying this all the time when I was growing up. I have been doing this all the time...all my adult life...let me explain:This is similar to living paycheck to paycheck I guess. This means every payday I try and pay all my bills but this is not always possible......Yesterdays brake fiasco set me back.....so what I had to do is take the money from my rent money..rent is due by the 5th...my next payday is wednesday the 9th...so I paid to get the car fixed and I will just pay my rent on the 9th...late so this means that I will have to pay $85 late fee...guess what? thats what I have to do....I couldn't ride around "brakeless" til next week....shit the boys were afraid everytime we came to a stop light or sign.....lol...my 2 husbands.....antyways.....am I the only one who lives this way....what is past due? What is about to be turned off? Am I the only one? Please.... please tell me its not just me? I don't have any credit cards.....just the basics......I make decent money, more than my momma did...and she did o.k........

Peter and Paul were regulars in our house child. Not only during Bible study, but when the cash wasn't quite right...lol
But lawd! In the end, everything worked out alright. We might have been eatin' syrup sandwiches and potted meat for weeks, but it worked out. I'll add you to my prayer list tonite. *kisses*

Oh girl please... I live paycheck to paycheck. I am so not proud of it... on paper it seems like I should have ALL this disposable income... but paper is NOT reality. LOL

Oh and my family didn't say "rob" peter to pay Paul, we said, "Borrow from Peter to pay Paul." Interesting...

I'm very familiar with "Rob Peter 2 pay Paul" and "one payday shy of being on the street".

The weird part? I had MORE money when I was single (in between marriages, that is). I miss those days of thinking "Oh yeah, today IS payday, isn't it? I almost forgot".

I live paycheck to paycheck also. Constantly having to pay the minimum. It always seem like when I get a little extra money (ie.. Bonus or income tax) something happens. lol Never fails. Either something with the car needs fixed or a big bill comes thru.

When you discover a way out of it.. Please share it with us.

ooh yeah.. We say "Borrow" too. lol

You are definitely not the only one living this way. It seems that "robbing Peter to Pay Paul" is synonymous with single parenting. I'm definitely feelin' ya on this post!

Diva it's the government! It's set up that way! The working class pays the taxes for the rich and we also pay all of the living expenses for the poor. You are payed on your job not to live comfortable but to always scrape by that way you will think twice before flipping over the desk like willie!!!

You will think about putting food on the table and bearly keeping the roof over your head when your boss starts trippin over some Dumb S**T!

I used to be married to a "booze freak", but now I'm married to a "shoe freak". lol Back in the single "season", there was only one person controlling the checkbook and only one person responsible for 2 little ones having a roof. Mine is leaving for Iraq in a few months, so controlling the checkbook again is the ONLY bright side to him leaving.

A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck. Having Bush in office definitely doesn't help matters..

Dee, oh gurl what about when you pay one and then all of the other ones go to hell? Like you paid the electric bill but then phone gets cut off or something! It's all just a juggle, isn't it?

@Humanity Critic - Oh you speak da truth and just think how long it's gonna take for us to recover when Dubbya finally gets the boot!

@ Xquizzyt1 - LOL! My grandma used to say that too but then I realized that Peter may not get ANY of his money back! :-)

A relatable post! great stuff Dee!
