Sometimes in April...Ignorant me in March.....

Last night I watched sometimes in April last night....It was a great movie! How come I did not know about this tragig event? I was not in a comma in 1994......I had a t.v and electricity...geesh, am I the only one that missed this......I will admit I usually hate watching the news cause it's sad and sort of depressing...But how did I miss the Rwandan genocide? Over a million Africans killed and I missed it.......I searched and searched my memory banks and hhmmmphh...no memory!!

Where was the media? Where was the Military? I feel so ignorant...i'm going back to read some more.........................

This may jog your memory...in 1994, the Bosnian Conflict was full effect, hogging the media and the attention of the world.

Basically, the Bosian conflict parallels the Rwandan genocide, but different race, different continents, and different responses from the world.

An interesting article from CNN, pointing fingers as to who is to blame:

I felt the same way as I watched the movie. Where was Opra*? To* Joyn*r? J*t? Ebon*y? Esse*ce? It makes me wonder if it can happen again!

I miss alot of things now, too. I don't really know if I can call it that. It's like we've become "numb", because every time you look in the paper, 50 people murdered over here, 150,000 died over hear, 3,000 die somewheres else.... all while you're looking for the comic strip.

Unfortunately I have grown numb to these things.

I too missed it in the media back then, but I'm glad that movies such as Sometimes In April and Hotel Rwanda helped to bring this matter back to light.

OMG. The movie was on Saturday right? A friend of mine watched it and said the same thing. She had no idea. I gotta see it.

That's crazy! You are absolutely right. I have no recollection of any major networks giving this atrocity the attention it deserved. I missed Sometimes in April, I'm going to check it out.

Oh! And thanks for visiting our blog. Glad to see that there are "proactive" parents in this day and age! And I loved your sign on name: "I.whip.my.kids..." LMAO!!!

Blessings!

You aren't alone. In 94, I think everyone was thinking about OJ Simpson. Or was that 95? ***shrugg sholders***

I hate that I am not as knowledgable about world issues as I could be, but I'm workin' on it.
